July: Lake City 4th of July Festival and  Ogden Valley Farmer's Market
August: Bountiful Art Festival and Helper Art Festival
September: Avenues' Street Fair and 9th & 9th Street Fair

Wish us luck!!

Summer fun......

Well, another summer has ended and fall is coming soon.  I do like the cooler evenings and crisp mornings.  I am about finished with canning and Rene is busy with more plans for his jewelry classes and the pieces he wants to make.

We had a fabulous summer at the local markets, though we ended up not doing much with Clearfield and Kaysville Farmer's Markets.  We were just tired!

Next Saturday we will be at the Harvest Moon Festival down on Historic 25th Street in Ogden, Utah.  Among other things, it will be the last of the Farmer's Markets for Ogden.

Our October event was canceled by the planners.

So now, we are getting ready for the holiday events. We should be back at Hill Air Force Officer's Spouses Bazaar in November.  And we would like to do one or two holiday events. I will wait until the plans are finalized before posting what we will do. (But if you know of any Christmas/winter/holiday festivals, please let us know.)

Remember: we now offer jewelry making classes Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We are also able to give demonstrations and one day classes to schools, "girl's night out," church groups, scouts, etc. Please contact us for more information.

a favorite of my favorites...........

Cover of the first Tobasco Donkey's record
This time of year brings bitter sweet memories for me.  My mind drifts back to my college days when after my last the last final of spring semester, I packed up my bags and headed to NorthWestern New Mexico to work at the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch. It was around this time of year that the magic of those summers were start to become yet another reality.  And on top of it all, I was paid to backpack, camp and be in the outdoors of the Sandgre de Cristo Mountains (with a fabulous ratio of boys to girls)!!

I met many, many amazing people there ----- and cherish too many sweet memories to blog about.

However, some of my favorite memories are of the many campfire programs that staff put on for the scouts.  Songs, stories and poems about love, America and the great outdoors.  As with most camping activities, there is something special that happens at night around the soft glows of warm flames.

A few of my friends, over the course of several summers formed a band and even went on to record two records.  I have Philmont Phriends Music listed as a favorite, but I should list them as their band title, Tobasco Donkeys.

Their music is gentle and fun; a mix of campfire favorites and ballads; soul and folk; and always a comfort when I am longing for yet another chance to go HOmE (as we like to call Philmont).  They have a few free downloads on their website for enjoyment (and I would add them to this post, but I have no idea how to do that.)

ahhhh--the imfamous Philmont photo
Tonight, my highlight is also a public thank you to Dirty Larry, Andy Gerhart, Ron Powers, Doug Cram, Peter Bingen, Mike Griffis, Eric Voss, Bob Brown, Alex Ave, Reid Templeton and Trish Dailey for letting me keep my Philmont memories alive through music.

WOW! I just realized it has been over a month since I posted something. Well, summer is here, what can I say... we've been busy at the park, swimming, gardening and all that goes with summer.

Rene has been building his inventory of beautiful jewelry.

For our friends in Ogden Valley, please check out the back side of Ogden Valley News. We have a fun new ad that will run the next month or so.

And for our crafty friends, check out The County Register (Utah version) . Did you see our ad there?

Have a great one!!
